A Travellerspoint blog

Home Sweet Beijing

The night train was very nice and our sleeper very comfortable. Its nice to be back in a familiar city and to be back with Lihao. Beijing is even more tourist ready now than it was a few weeks ago- the voice in english on the subway no longer has a Chinese accent, she now sounds totally American. All of a sudden there are places to rent pink bikes on the streets that weren't there before. There are even more Olympic volunteers all over the place.
The smog, however, hasn't gone anywhere. It has been sprinkling though, which helps with the heat.

The zoo was great yesterday until we got rained out. But before the rain we saw the elephant show and got to feed vegetables to the elephant, and see the pandas and lots of other fun animals. Pictures soon!

Hello Hillary, Your Dad gave me the address to your blog and I'm glad he did -- very nice entries that give me and Anne a great sense of your experiences so far. And we're also both glad that Lihao was with you on your many adventures. Enjoy the rest of your time in China and we'll see you soon. John
